Airline Transport Pilot License (P4)

How to gain your VATSIM Airline Transport Pilot License (P4)

The highest regular pilot rating you can gain on VATSIM is the Airline Transport Pilot License (P4).

In the ATPL course you will take the skills you have learned up to this stage and apply them to flying a turbine-powered, transport-category aeroplane.

Some of the topics covered during the ATPL training include:

  • Type-specific aircraft systems training
  • Low visibility procedures
  • Long-range flight planning
  • Airline operation

Typically the course is likely to consist of around 10 hours of practical training with an instructor, followed by a practical Skills Test.

What aircraft will be used?

The ATPL training and examination is conducted in a turbine-powered, transport category aircraft such as the A320, B737, ATR-72 and so on.

Where can I get training for the VATSIM Airline Transport Pilot License?

You’ll need to find an ATO which is approved for ATPL Training. You can find a list of ATOs and the ratings they are approved for at https://prams.vatsim.net/atos.
